I…..I….I quit!

Week 4 is down in the books and what a rough week it was for a lot of us.  Clemson got upset (was it really though?) as they continue to struggle offensively against NC State and just about dropped out of rankings sitting at #25.  And with North Carolina losing, it appears that NO team from the ACC will be in the running for the National Championship this year.  Better luck next year Dabo.

Notre Dame was able to pull away from Wisconsin in the 4th quarter with multiple pick 6’s which I am sure had the folks with big points on ND screaming, hootin’ and hollerin’.  But luckily those of us that did pick Wisconsin had mediocre points and nothing big.

A lot of these games came down literally to the last second.  All eyes were on the TV with the Missouri and Boston College game.  Missouri was able to kick a long field goal to tie the game to head into overtime.  Luckily for most of us, after BC scored their touchdown, they intercepted Mizzou’s attempt which ended the game in favor of BC 41-34.

Memphis and UTSA had a battle of their own and UTSA kick a walk off field goal to end the game 31-28.  After being down 21-0 to end the 1st quarter, UTSA powered back and held Memphis to only 7 points after that.  Most of us had some big juicy points and lost out.  Thanks Memphis.

After Mike’s mishap with the Boise State and Utah State game, I know there are a few that are wanting their points and possibly money back.  Utah State never had a chance in this game as Boise State won 27-3 easily.

After struggling with Colorado a couple of weeks ago, Texas A&M would see if it was just a one time fluke on getting the offense going in a test to see if they can handle Arkansas.  Playing in Dallas, Arkansas dominated the Aggies in a 20-10 game.  Is Arkansas really that good this year?  They will face Georgia in Athens this weekend so this will be the true test to see if they are real or fake.

Iowa State tried their hardest to overcome Baylor and scored a late touchdown to be able to attempt a 2-point conversion to tie the game with under a minute left in the game.  But Baylor had other plans and intercepted the attempt which of course ended the game with Baylor winning 31-29 in the upset. Staying in the Big 12, Oklahoma State was up 31-13 at the half.  The Cowboys were not able to score in the second half but were still able to win 31-20 over Kansas State.  Oklahoma and West Virginia struggled in a low scoring game which kept Oklahoma in contention for the conference and national title.  They squeaked by 16-13.  A win is a win, right?

Even though Kentucky had 3 turnovers, it didn’t prove costly as the beat South Carolina 16-10.  In case you missed it, Auburn was able to pull away late in the game to outlast Georgia State 34-24.  They had to pull Bo Nix from the game to make this happen.  With LSU up Saturday, will they put Bo Nix back in?  What do you think Mike and Kim?

FCS woes:  Nothing to see here this week folks…..move along!

On To pick’ems…

Ok, so another brutal week for a lot of us again.  And by looking at this week’s picks, I have a feeling it will be this week as well.  David, do you just love torturing us?  Do you dream at night on how you want to see us miserable?  I am beginning to think that.  What did we ever do to you?  Just please make the bleeding stop.  Mom, Marc and Mike stayed in the top 3 from last week.  Lucky.

This week’s Pretenders:  Even though Jacob finished 4th this week, he still is wayyy behind and will need to continue to beat out everyone else in the weeks to come.  Can he do it?  Yes.  Will he do it?  No.  Stemple took his fall this week.  You got sick didn’t you?  We told you not to eat any of the food David brought.  This is why you should never take a vacation with David.  He brings you down.  Kim and Mike not only lost morally with Auburn, they literally struggled with the picks.  They only lost 4 games but those high points…..I think the time zone change for Sean still has him a little off since he moved.  Or was it that he got his advise from Noah this week?  I think Noah is more focused on all the Pokémon cards he has been getting than making his picks.   Adam, you know what your cure is?  Go buy a bag of skittles.  It seemed to work for the ref in the FSU game as he had to deal with having to officiate that crap.

This week’s Contenders:  With his success this week, Sam has already been talking about all the Pokémon cards he wants to buy (when) he wins the money.  Sorry son, you have to compete like that every week to win, not just one week.  I still can’t believe after all of that carnage, Sam and Marc only lost 3 games.  I know Marc is feeling upbeat this year thinking he may have a chance at the grand prize.  Can he keep the pace?  It looks like Jacob copied some of Cindy’s picks this week and it helped him out as he and Cindy finished 3rd and 4th for the week.  You do realize you can’t have 2 entries right Cindy?  David and Mom trying to stay in the top to keep pace with each other but David needs to start taking some chances to get closer to her.  Megan and I were on the threshold of being pretenders this week.  Megan, I will call you later to strategize.  What time is best to call?

Most points for the week:  Samuel raked in 43 points.  And I haven’t quit hearing about it since.  That pushed him to 9th place overall.  Good job honey.  Mommy is proud of you even though you get lucky on how you make your picks.  "Mom, I am going to pick (insert team) because they kicked a (insert yard number) field goal last week”.  Yes, that is his logic.  But it is working because he is beating me and his dad.

Least points for the week:   Kim takes this dishonor this week by only getting 22 points.  If it makes you feel better Kim, at least it wasn’t in the teens as the last 3 weeks.  The low score has been in the teens each of those weeks.

Best pick of the week:  Megan got lucky with her NC State and Baylor pick.  Samuel and Marc were also able to capitalize with 1 win each on those games while everyone else lost BIG points on those 2 games.

Worst pick of the week:  Mike dropping 7 points on Kansas State.  Lucky for him, he is still ranked higher than 11 of us.

Here are the rankings:

1. Mom -149 points

2. Marc – 147 points

3. Mike – 136 points

4. David - 134 points

5. Stemple - 130 points

5. Cindie - 130 points

6. Megan - 126 points

6. Sean - 126 points

7. Noah - 125 points

8. Kim - 123 points

9. Samuel - 122 points

10. Adam - 119 points

10. Wendi -119 points

There is a 50 point difference from first to last.
