Eyes on the Trophy

written by Wendi

Well, well, well!  Would you look at that.  Texas lost AGAIN!  Texas lost to West Virginia 31-23.  This was Texas’ sixth straight loss and will not be bowl eligible.  They currently sit at 4-7.  Ouch!  Maybe they shouldn’t have fired Tom Herman last year.  Baylor beat Kansas State 20-10 in a low scoring game.  But of course, that is compared to the Big 12 standard book of shootouts.

Speaking of books, Ohio State threw the book at Michigan State and went up quickly 49-0 at the half and 56-7 as the final.  I hope they don’t do that to Michigan on Saturday.  Luckily for me, I will not be watching that game.  I don’t think I would be able to handle that without beating on Sam.  Just kidding!  Or am I?  It wouldn’t hurt to put in a welfare check on him Saturday afternoon just in case.

So much for Wake Forest stepping up for the ACC.  Somehow Clemson looked good for the first time this year.  They recorded 7 sacks and beat them 48-24.  <singing the Frozen song>  Foooor the first time in foreverrrrrr, we have points, and lots of themmmmm…….

Virginia Tech stood no chance in the rain against Miami.  After going up 28-13 at the half, Miami was outscored 13-10 in the second half but still got the W.  Did anyone see some of the players sliding head first onto the completely soaked field?  Now that is my type of celebrating.

Like Arkansas really stood a chance?  They really didn’t but they sure had Alabama feeling uncomfortable the whole game.  Saban’s team was only able to keep the hogs no more than two arm lengths away.  I think we can all agree that this is not the BAMA team we are all use to seeing.  Without Bo Nix, can Auburn pull an upset on Bama this week to knock them out of National Championship hopes?  One can only hope.  Oops, did I say that TOO loud…hehehe

Should we all start taking Cincinnati seriously? Any by that, I mean the College Football Championship Committee.  What else do they have to prove?  They steamrolled a "not so bad team” SMU 48-14.

UCLA got a big win over rival USC 62-33.  I don’t know what’s worse, the score or the fact that UCLA’s QB gave an autograph on a UCLA hat for a kid wearing Southern Cal gear.  Uhhh, what?  Just so you know, it was the kid’s idea.  After Cal having to cancel a game last week due to Coronavirus, they were able to overcome that and beat Stanford 41-11.  Even though Oregon was ranked #3, #23 ranked Utah was favored.  We didn’t expect a blowout thought.  Who saw 38-7 as the final score?  I know I didn’t.

FUN FACT:  Michigan State offered their head coach a 10 year $95 million extension before the blowout loss to Ohio State.  Wonder if he spent halftime trying to get it signed.  Talk about bad timing.

On To pick’ems…

Well it could have been A LOT worse but we all did fairly well this week.  Mom took a big blow to her picks by scoring the lowest with Sean and Noah.  Her ego might be a little bruised as well.  Speculation has it that she will NOT be sharing her picks with Marc this week in order to keep him one step behind.  Will it work?  Or will she continue to plunge further down.

Now there is only a 7 point lead over 2nd place.  Cindy and Kim are breathing heavily trying to get in to the top 3 with Sean not too far behind but he cannot afford another bad week.  Can Adam and Stemple make a run for it?  If so, they will need a perfect week while everyone else stumbles.  Anything is possible in College Football.  But what is not possible is David cracking the top three.  You know I had to add that in there.  LOL

Noah and Jacob are battling for last place.  Samuel is trying to make a name for himself and have some bragging rights over beating at least one adult (Mike) but Mike is right behind him.

Every time I feel like I had a great week, I look at the overall rankings and I am still in 9th or 10th.  How is this possible? This is not my year.  At least I have the bowl pick’ems to look forward to.  I did win it last year.  Can I at least get a participation trophy?

With only 2 weeks remaining, the pressure is tense around the top 5 spots.

Who can maintain and who will fall?

Who will come in last and who will win it all?

Most points for the week:  David and Cindy tied with 53 points for the week.  After the disastrous week David had last week, he REALLY needed this.

Least points for the week:  Sean, Noah and Mom tied with 35 points.  With mom having the lowest scoring points, the gap from 1st and 2nd closed immensely.

Best pick of the week:  Cindy and David’s gamble by picking Utah over Oregon paid off BIG.

Worst pick of the week:  Who still keeps picking Texas?  When will you learn your lesson?  Kim, Adam and Sean.  <face palm>

Here are the rankings:

1.Mom -445 points

2.Marc – 438 points

3.Megan - 424 points

4.Cindy - 411 points

5.Kim - 410 points

6.Sean - 407 points

7.Adam - 402 points

8.Stemple - 401 points

9.David - 397 points

10.Wendi - 393 points

11.Samuel - 388 points

12.Mike - 386 points

13.Jacob - 369 points

14.Noah - 364 points

There is an 81 point difference from first to last.   This is rivalry week so good luck and GO BLUE!  (yes I know Michigan will get demolished).

And Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
