"Alright, Alright, Alright”
Well, those mighty Longhorns sure have something to brag about. NOT. I am still not convinced Texas is back. They beat a lackluster Michigan team who is still trying to figure out their identity and who lost just about all of their starters and at least 6 or 8 coaches. Anyone with half a brain knew Michigan was going to lose and probably lose bad. But it was only 31-12. So not too bad in my opinion. GO BLUE…always!!
Two games that had us on the ropes were the Arkansas vs Oklahoma State and Pitt vs Cincinnati. What appeared to be a runaway game for Arkansas and Cincinnati, turned into the things made of nightmares. Oklahoma State was down 21-7 at halftime and outscored the hogs 26-10 in the second half and into overtime. Arkansas was unable to score in OT and Cowboys won it 39-31. Pittsburg was down 27-13 at the end of the third quarter and scored 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win 28-27. Wow. College football does not lack excitement.
I think after Georgia Tech beat Florida State, some were so confident that they went 10 on Georgia Tech. But if you know a thing or two about college football, you would have known that former Ohio State starting quarterback transferred after last season to Syracuse. That made my choice difficult in choosing who to go with as well as some of you possibly. But in the end, Kyle McCord’s four touchdowns were too much for the Yellowjackets to handle. The Orange won it 31-28. Outside Miami, Syracuse may be the team to beat in the ACC…
In case you missed it, Auburn sucks.
Utah quickly jumped to a 23-3 lead at the half over Baylor. Utah’s QB Cam Rising got injured (again) and did not come back in the game. The Utes did not score again but still able to win 23-12.
Boy, did Iowa blow this game or what? What seemed like a for sure win, Iowa imploded in the third quarter. Maybe it was just a fluke that Iowa scored 40 points last week because on Saturday, Iowa was being Iowa and lost to their in state rivals (Iowa State) 20-19.
Illinois is quietly 2-0 after beating 19th ranked Kansas 23-17. Kansas just had too many turnovers (just like Auburn) and Illinois was able to capitalize on those. Is it me or is it that the Colorado Bandwagon is slowly losing steam? I read a meme late last night when I was on my phone because I couldn’t sleep. It stated that "There were three Sanders that went to Nebraska. One left to the Hospital (Shiloh), the other left before the game ended (Shedeur) and the last one was left wondering what just happened (coach).”
We all have different opinions on this. But I think most of us will agree that the smack talking needs to stop and people want to see you win the big games. Otherwise, you make your program look silly. His sons will be gone after this season and I am curious to see if he will stay. I heard a runor that FSU looking for a new coach. LOL
Tennessee steamrolled NC State 51-10 Saturday night. This was not a shocker to anyone but Megan. Were you going for the upset?
On to the Pick’ems…
First off, let me say that there are some people in this group who have loyalty to their team. Take me for example. Even if I know that Michigan will lose 100-0, I will still never pick against my team. I will always go 1 on Michigan. Take this past weekend for an example. Then you have those other folks who treat this contest as a "business decision” and will pick against their team just to win a few measly bucks. Is it loyalty or are you just not a true fan to pick against your team. One the admins (cough cough David) will test your loyalty throughout this entire contest. He wants you to make that choice. As a matter of fact, he may purposely be putting the Oregon vs Oregon State game on the picks and he may also be putting FSU on the picks this week. He saw Michigan and Auburn suffer and yes, he does enjoy that. When he is lying in bed at night looking to see what teams will go on the next week’s picks, he has the devilish laugh that wakes up his wife and she even wonders what he is up to. So, for all of the newcomers – where does your loyalty lie? With your team or with a few dollars?
Now that THAT is over with…
There were six of us that scored below 30. YIKES. Rick has had the lowest to date (23 points). Don’t worry Rick, there will be that ONE person who only scores 11 points later this season. Usually that person is Mike H. Sorry, not sorry. Mike H. had a bi-polar weekend. His only son got married in Connecticut this weekend (Congrats JT) but his team Auburn lost. Hopefully he was able to drink those sorrows away at the wedding reception.
And yes Kim, my picks tanked as well. I did get your text message. I was too busy licking my wounds from the Michigan loss. I mean, Sam and I were putting up Fall and Halloween decorations.
There were three Meggers in the top 5 for this week. If you ask me, there is a bunch of collusion going on. Maybe Rick lost his memo?? Noah and David were able to rebound after a disastrous start last week and finished in the top half. Cindy is right where she always is. Just below the top group. Will Cindy finally decide to get aggressive this year?
And for those who missed it, Florida State lost to Bye Week this weekend 39-0.
Oh, and hey Evelyn, didn’t I say in last week’s article, you would stay on top? Thought so.
Most points for the week: Marc won the $10 this week with 39 points which put him in the lead overall. He got aggressive in picking Syracuse and Illinois to win.
Least points for the week: Rick takes this coveted spot. Can he rebound next weekend?
Best pick of the week: Marc and Sean picking Syracuse over GT and Marc and Megan picking Illinois over Kansas.
Worst pick of the week: Megan picking NC State over Tennessee. Why? And all of us dummies who thought going big on Auburn was a great idea.
Here are the rankings after Week 2:
1. Marc – 79 points
2. Mike M. – 74 points
3. Sean – 72 points
4. Evelyn – 69 points
5. Adam – 69 points
